Devotions > Revival Fire

Our creator God made all that is made and he holds all together that is held together.   He also has made all the laws which govern the ways of the physical universe.   For example He made the laws which govern fire.   Fire behaves normally in accordance with the laws that God has put in place to govern fire.

But the God who made the laws that govern the behavior of fire can, at His discretion, cause fire to obey His commands outside of the laws that normally govern fire.   God has used fire to get a man’s attention as with Moses and the burning bush.   God has used fire to give His people direction as with the pillar of fire that He uses to guide His people in the wilderness.

God has used fire to establish His Name, His nature and His holiness to the people who are called by His name as in when Elijah called down fire from God on Mount Carmel, or when “Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke, for the Lord descended upon it in fire; its smoke ascended like that of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.”   The writer of Hebrews tells us:  For our God [is indeed] a consuming fire.

God has more plans for fire.   He plans to bring a revival fire that will burn across our land.   As in the days of Samson God desires to use us to ignite and expand His revival fire

“Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned the foxes tail to tail and put one torch in the middle between two tails.
When he had set fire to the torches, he released the foxes into the standing grain of the Philistines, thus burning up both the shocks and the standing grain, along with the vineyards and groves.”

Revival fire is the representation of the unusual power and presence of the Holy Spirit that falls upon the people who are called by His name in revival.   This is the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire that John insisted that Jesus would perform. [ Matthew3:11]

We know that in revival all the power is God’s part.  But what is our part?   God clearly outlined our part in His word: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Let’s begin to focus daily on these things … humble ourselves, and pray and seek the face of God and repent of all our sin.     God is waiting on you and on me.  He is waiting on His people who are called by His name.  Will you join me in passionately pursuing these?   If you do, you will bring pleasure to Your God.   And ultimately His response will be a powerful and culture transforming revival.

Unusual Fire:

Exodus 24:9-18 (AMP)
9 Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up [the mountainside].
10 And they saw the God of Israel [that is, a convincing manifestation of His presence], and under His feet it was like pavement of bright sapphire stone, like the very heavens in clearness.
11 And upon the nobles of the Israelites He laid not His hand [to conceal Himself from them, to rebuke their daring, or to harm them]; but they saw [the manifestation of the presence of] God, and ate and drank.
12 And the Lord said to Moses, Come up to Me into the mountain and be there, and I will give you tables of stone, with the law and the commandments which I have written that you may teach them.
13 So Moses rose up with Joshua his attendant; and Moses went up into the mountain of God.
14 And he said to the elders, Tarry here for us until we come back to you; remember, Aaron and Hur are with you; whoever has a cause, let him go to them.
15 Then Moses went up into the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain.
16 The glory of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh day [God] called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
17 And the glory of the Lord appeared to the Israelites like devouring fire on the top of the mountain.
18 Moses entered into the midst of the cloud and went up the mountain, and Moses was on the mountain forty days and nights.

Exodus 3:2 (AMP)
2 The Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, yet was not consumed.

Exodus 9:23-24 (ASV)
23 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and Jehovah sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down unto the earth; and Jehovah rained hail upon the land of Egypt.
24 So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation.

Exodus 13:21-22 (AMP)
21 The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.
22 The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people.

Exodus 19:16-18 (AMP)
16 The third morning there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast, so that all the people in the camp trembled.
17 Then Moses brought the people from the camp to meet God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain.
18 Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke, for the Lord descended upon it in fire; its smoke ascended like that of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.

Exodus 24:16-17 (AMP)
16 The glory of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh day [God] called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
17 And the glory of the Lord appeared to the Israelites like devouring fire on the top of the mountain.

Exodus 40:38 (AMP)
38 For throughout all their journeys the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.

Numbers 11:1 (AMP)
1 AND THE people grumbled and deplored their hardships, which was evil in the ears of the Lord, and when the Lord heard it, His anger was kindled; and the fire of the Lord burned among them and devoured those in the outlying parts of the camp.
