Dear Prayer Warrior,

Revival comes from heaven above.   We cannot work it up, we must pray it down.  God’s primary agent in revival is the Holy Spirit.  His secondary agent is you.   The Holy Spirit’s contribution is everything, power, and conviction, joy and salvation.   Your contribution is prayer, humble believing prayer that seeks and walks forward to find the face of the Father and runs with resolve to repentance.   

Let’s examine the characteristics of the kind of prayer that brings revival down. First we must pray in and from the residence of humility.    God opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble.   In order to pray down revival we must have God’s grace and we must avoid His opposition!  

Humility in our hearts and lives is the foundation for prayer that brings down revival.   In order to bring humility as a reality into our daily experience, we must root out pride from our hearts and attitudes.   Pride is to humility like darkness is to light.   God hates pride.   Why does God opposes pride?    Because pride is the main motor driving rebellion against Him.   God will by His Spirit help us root out the pride in our lives but it must become a top priority. We must ask God to show us our pride.    Most of your pride and mine is visible to others, and all of our pride is intimately known by God.   However a good portion of our pride is invisible  to us.  The nature of pride is like a chameleon, it changes to look like the one upon whom it inhabits.   In order to build a foundation for prayer that brings down revival we must ask and keep asking for God to first reveal our pride and then to empower us to destroy the pride in our hearts.  Remember the sin of rebellion is to God as the sin of witchcraft.

As we fervently seek to allow God build the foundation of humility we must also begin to trust Him to construct the structure of consistent fervent specific prayer for revival.   We have not because we ask not, or we ask amiss.  God will give us help, support motivation and direction in revival praying, as in everything good, if we ask.   Have you ask God for help in your prayer life?   Have you told Him that you are depending on Him for the power to pray consistently and fervently?   Please do not depend on yourself.    This is a spiritual battle and we must use spiritual weapons.   We must not depend on flesh and blood, we must depend on the power and wisdom of God.

Please ask God to root out pride from your life and give you the persistence and fervency to pray daily for revival with power, the kind of power that brings revival down.   For He tells us:

¹⁴ If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

God is anxiously awaiting our faith filled fervent prayers for revival.   He desires to send His Holy Spirit to begin a fresh work of revival in our midst.   The lack is not on God’s side.  Will you pray?
